Last weekend I went on a trip to Venice for 4 days with my parents. Has been quite a while since I’d travelled together with them but I told them I was planning to visit Venice and they asked if they could join, so why not? 😉 I can remember I’ve always wanted to visit Venice, I just think it’s a city you must’ve seen in your life, it’s so special with being the water city that it is. As often, I booked our accommodation via airbnb, it’s just the easiest and cheapest way to find one. We didn’t stay… Weiterlesen »Vegan in Venice
Just a short post about Austria because in my opinion, Austria is such an underrated country. When I was younger and still went on vacation with my parents, I visited almost every corner of Austria as this was the only country where my parents wanted to go. I also went to Italy and Spain with them once but this was when I was reeeally young. And even later I’ve been to Austria almost every year for a few days. Although I think it’s quite boring to go on holidays in the same country every year when there are so many great… Weiterlesen »A better “Germany”?
Last year in winter we made a one day trip to Oberstdorf in Germany/Bavaria.. I’ve always been quite a winter child. There have been years in my life when I couldn’t stand summer. Don’t ask me why.. 😀 I was just looking forward to the colder seasons all the time during summer. Nowadays I like all the seasons as they all have their pros and cons and I also learned to appreciate summer and it’s warm weather. Especially early summer mornings and late evenings are magical. I’m still not the one for the biggest heat though. But this post is not… Weiterlesen »Looking back and forward to winter.
Pt. I here.
The next day I slept in as we got home so late and I wasn’t meeting my ex-roommate at Champs-Élysées until lunchtime. When I got there it was so weird to see her after half a year because we spent several months together in one room before in Sweden and then suddenly didn’t see each other anymore! It was really great though and we had to tell each other so many news about what happened in our lifes. She also brought 2 friends with her and first I worried if I’ll be able to visit the places I wanted to this day as it is quite boring to see touristic places for locals. They didn’t mind though and asked me where I wanted to go so we walked down Champs-Élysées to see Arc de Triomphe at the end of the street. When I saw the big traffic circle around it, I was happy one more time I didn’t bring my car. 😀 After that we went to see Tour Eiffel – finally! It’s amazing to get to see a place about which you’ve read so much about and have seen it in so many movies. It’s strange but when I was younger I always thought it wasn’t that big. Then I read a book about how it was built and was quite surprised that there is a really big place underneath the tower. When I saw it in reality I was even more impressed. I knew it was big but that huge? Wow! I didn’t go up the tower for the same reasons I didn’t visit the Louvre museum..
Last weekend I visited paris – finally! I always wanted to go there but somehow it never happend earlier. It was quite a spontaneous trip because at the moment my future is quite uncertain and I can’t really plan anything for a long time ahead. I also don’t have too much money for travelling right now. So I decided to make a short trip to Paris to visit my French roommate who shared a room with me during my semester in Sweden because I’m not sure if I’ll have any other possibilities to go abroad this year and I just needed to get out if even just for a few days.
Did you know that Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle was inspired by Neuschwanstein Castle? <3
Actually the castle always reminds me more of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and some sources say it also was the inspiration for this. I’m not sure what’s true. Anyway.. since I’d known about this I always wanted to visit this castle in Bavaria. It’s been some years since I visited this place together with my boyfriend but I remember this trip pretty well because it wasn’t trouble-free.. As usually we booked a room via airbnb and we were told that it’s okay if we arrive later in the evening. As we got stuck in a traffic jam we got to our accommodation quite late. We ringed the bell and called our host on the phone but noone opened and we couldn’t reach her. I have to admit this upset me a little as she told us it’s okay to arrive late. We were really tired and just wanted to take a shower and have a good sleep so that we could get up early and be fit for our hike the next day. In the end there was no other possibility than to sleep in the car though. At least we could see the castle from where we parked..Weiterlesen »Once upon a time…
Last year I went to Elbe Sandstone Mountains for two days with my boyfriend. You can see them in Germany but also in the Czech Republic. My boyfriend had already been to the German side (Saxon Switzerland)on his own already and wanted me to see them as well because they’re really beautiful. He wanted to go to the region in the Czech Republic (Bohemian Switzerland) this time and as I’m always happy to leave Germany, I agreed.
During my months abroud in Sweden I decided to go on a trip to lapland with some other people. In winter semester the university organizes a big trip for all students who want to go but we were there in summer semester. We didn’t want to miss going there since being in Sweden anyway so we booked a guided tour with Scanbalt Experience. At first we thought about going there on our own but I think it’s quite hard in Lapland without a guide and with just a few days time to see as much as possible. It was quite cheap for such a tour as well and at first we were a little sceptical but everything worked out just fine.
When I was in Sweden I went to Denmark one day with a small group of people from university. We went there with two lecturers who know the city very well and who could show us a lot of places. They could tell us some historical facts about them as well. From Kristianstad in Sweden it is only about one hour with the train to get there. I was really excited to cross the Øresund Bridge to Denmark. It’s a very special bridge that is half under the water and it separates Denmark from Sweden.
Yes, I talk a little Swedish but it’s really just a tiny bit. I went to Sweden for 5 months last year for a semester abroad (with Erasmus programme) and there I also had a Swedish course at university. It’s sad you unlearn languages if you don’t use them regularly.
So, Sweden.. I really love this country. I’d never been there before but I was always fascinated by the Northern countries. I wasn’t too far North though. My university was in Kristianstad and that’s also where I lived. Kristianstad is a cute little town. I stayed in a hostel for students and shared a room with a French girl. And it really was just a big room with a small kitchen corner and a tiny bathroom. So there was no privacy because we didn’t even have separate rooms to sleep. I never thought I could stand something like this for a long time ’cause I’m a person that needs a lot of alone time but you can accustom to anything if there’s no other option. 😉 I just couldn’t afford another accomodation because Sweden is very expensive.Weiterlesen »Jag talar lite Svenska.
