What we think we become.

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought.
The mind is everything.
What we think we become.”
– Buddha

I’d like to share with you some of my thoughts on the law of attraction and my experience with it. You’ve never heard of this law? Well, basically, this quote of Buddha above says it all but here is good definition that I’ve found:

„The belief that positive thoughts are magnets for positive life experiences and negative thoughts are magnets for negative life experiences. Based on the law of attraction, if you have a specific desire and focus joyfully on that desire, it will be fulfilled.“

There also are books and a movies about this topic, e.g. „The Secret“. I watched that movie and it explains everything quite well though I feel that they’re overdoing it a little as well.

So, what do I think about the law of attraction? I know, it sounds too good to be true but I think it’s true. I mean, let’s say you want to buy a beautiful house and live there, I don’t believe that you can just sit down and think to yourself „I want this house, so I’ll get it without doing anything“. That’s not how it works, you need to take actions as well. But I believe that the chances to fulfill the dream of having this house are so much higher if you believe that it’ll come true. You’ll be way more positive and more motivated to do something for that dream. You’ll be able to see changes that you maybe wouldn’t see if you just go through life with a negative „it’s pointless, I’ll never get that anyway“ attitude, constantly complaining instead of taking actions. You will also be more relaxed as you trust that everything will turn out the way you imagine it to which makes it easier to stay focused on what you want instead of freaking out or falling into depression.

Actually, to me this doesn’t even need a term like „the law of attraction“, it’s simply logical. For example, just think about who you’d rather offer your help or a gift: Someone who’s always friendly and smiles at you or someone who’s constantly complaining, mean or insulting.

I can say from personal experience that everytime I go through life with a positive attitude, thinking that everything will fall into place and I’ll get where I want in life, good things seem to happen to me more likely.

When some months ago I couldn’t find a job, I got a little depressive and desperate but still no job was in sight. Then I got a job offer but hated the thought of starting this job. When my first day there was drawing nearer, I decided last minute not to go there. I talked with other people before and they told me not start if I don’t want to and that there will come something else, that if one door closes, another will open. Once I started to trust in this and to trust that there are lots of other opportunities out there, I became so much happier and more positive. I started making great plans for my future without this job and imagined how I’d find something else to do and to get money. One or two weeks later I already had 4 new opportunities, it was crazy! It seemed that once I got more relaxed and trusted that everything will be okay, I started to attract more positive things into my life.

To end this, I have a little story for you that happened to me just last weekend: I went out to a city festival where there was some concert outside and it was raining but I didn’t have an umbrella. I knew it’d rain but I went there without an umbrella and just thought „I’ll be okay, it won’t be that bad“ and trusted that I won’t get too wet and will be fine. After some time there, some guys walked by and just dropped an umbrella on the street.. which was pretty weird considering it was raining at that moment. When we shouted after them what’s up the umbrella they said that they don’t need it and that we can take it. So then I had an umbrella to not get wet anymore.
