What to love about winter and how to stay positive & healthy during this season.

It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas..❄️⛄ I know, many people don’t like winter and really struggle with staying happy and positive. Some people get seriously depressed during that time. I’m a person that loves winter (not driving through snow with my car though..). There are a lot of things to love about christmas time and winter time in general. However, not gonna lie – I often struggle with keeping a positive mindset during this cold and dark season as well. So let me share with you a few things that help me to cheer up and that make…

Getting into meditation: My experience with “Headspace”

I’ve heard a lot of people, especially happy and successful people, talk about what benefits they get from meditating regularly. Even my ex-boyfriend was always meditating when we were together and I saw it was doing him good. I never meditated in the past. I sometimes tuned in some guided meditation on my laptop before going to bed to be able to fall asleep easier. This works really good for me but I wouldn’t really say that I was meditating as the purpose of meditating isn’t to fall asleep, I guess.. A few weeks ago I heard about the app called “Headspace” for the first time.…

There’s more to health than just diet and exercise.

A lot of people that approach a topic such as health, mainly talk about eating a healthy diet and working out but leave everything else aside. In my opinion, the mental components are so underrated although I believe that they belong to the main influences when it comes to being healthy. I just came home from another trip to Morocco this week and I realized once again what positive effects trips like this one have on my health. Everytime I’m travelling, I feel better than when I’m at home although my diet may not be as healthy as at home or I may not work out as much. On…

What we think we become.

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.” – Buddha I’d like to share with you some of my thoughts on the law of attraction and my experience with it. You’ve never heard of this law? Well, basically, this quote of Buddha above says it all but here is good definition that I’ve found: “The belief that positive thoughts are magnets for positive life experiences and negative thoughts are magnets for negative life experiences. Based on the law of attraction, if you have a specific desire and…

Why you should throw away your scale.

I believe that the scale can only make you unhappy when it comes to self-love and feeling good in your body. It’s really hard to be satisfied with the number it shows. It’s probably always too much or even too little in case you want to gain weight instead of losing it. In my opinion, the number itself shouldn’t matter. It’s more important to concentrate on what you look like and how you’re feeling. You’re looking slim, fit and are feeling happy and full of energy? Great, then why does it matter if the scale shows 5kg more than you think it…

Live in the moment, live for today.

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” – Lao Tzu I’m one of those people that really struggle with living in the moment. I think too much about the past and worry too much about the future which often keeps me up at night though all I can do anyway is living today, now, in this moment. Although I really do still struggle with this, I already got better at being present in this exact moment, I try to practice this all the time. There are strategies that help me with it. First of all it helps me to realize that it’s…

Don’t let other people’s negativity affect you.

For 2 months now I’m working fulltime again and am constantly surrounded by people, sometimes by people that are talking about negative things, people that are complaining or bitching about others. Not all the time of course but it happens. I didn’t have many people like this around me when I was studying and had a lot of freetime so I really had to get used to all this negativity around me again. For some time now I got better and better at being more positive even on bad days so I really don’t want other people’s negativity to affect my mood.…

Is social media unhealthy?

At the moment there is a lot going on on social media about social media itself because of a girl named Essena O’Neill. In case you have never heard of her: She is a really famous girl on Instagram, Tumblr, Youtube etc. and.. she quit. She quit social media because she says it is all fake and it was not good for her because she only lived through screens, didn’t know who she really was, was constantly comparing herself to others and needed social appreciation. But I don’t want to go deeper into what she says and into judging her decision…

Bad days.. how to deal with them.

Days when everything goes wrong, we all know them. I just had one. Today started bad and ended worse. I had lots of problems with my car.. I left home at 7am and came home at 9pm (starving and freezing..) plus I’m around 400€ poorer because of my car which is the worst thing about it all for me as I want to start saving money for some travels in the future. So, this really sucks, right? Right. And I’m not here to tell you how exactly to deal with days like this because I’m not an expert at it, not…

“Do I have an eating disorder?”

I guess there are people out there asking themselves this question. This may sound weird because you’d think that if you have one, you know it. But no, it’s not as easy as that. When I developed eating problems as a teenager I did not know I have an eating disorder even when I clearly had one. And it was not because I was denying it. It simply didn’t get to my mind that what I was doing was a mental disease. I thought I was just really good at loosing weight, that I was smart and found the right…
